UHCS offers mental health appointments and drop-in hours, psychopharmacology, and a variety of support groups and workshops.
Appointments and Drop-In Hours
You can schedule an appointment in advance or visit without an appointment during drop-in hours to meet with a mental health clinician. Drop-in hours are listed below. For all appointments, call 617.373.2772.

- Monday through Friday: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Tuesday and Thursday: 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM
When visiting UHCS during drop-in hours, check in at the front desk and let the Patient Support Specialist know you are looking to speak with a mental health clinician.
Psychopharmacology Services
For questions about psychiatric medication options or continuing a previously prescribed medication, please call UHCS to speak with a mental health clinician.
Staff can provide services to students residing in Massachusetts or can refer students to prescribing clinicians outside of Massachusetts for regular treatment depending on:
- whether a student has a current treating psychiatric provider
- the nature of the diagnosis
- prognostic factors
Things to Consider When Making a Psychopharmacology Appointment
If you begin taking a medication, you will be expected to attend follow-up appointments with your prescriber. Medication refills are generally prescribed in face to face appointments, rather than over the phone, so it is important to keep these follow-up appointments. As soon as you notice you are running low on medication, call UHCS at 617.373.2772 to schedule an appointment.
You will need to have an initial UHCS evaluation to be prescribed medications or have any prescriptions renewed. If you have ever had medication treatment in the past, please bring prior documentation. For stimulant prescriptions such as Ritalin, Adderall, or Concerta, a neuropsychological evaluation is needed as well as any information supporting an ADHD diagnosis, including testing results.
Please note that UHCS clinicians generally do not consider benzodiazepines such as Xanax, Ativan, Valium and Klonopin to be first choices in treating anxiety due to the high potential for dependence.
